Overview

As animal professionals, we are dedicated to providing the best care possible to our clients and their animals.  We work hard to stay up to date with current research, techniques, and best practice, continually developing our professional skills.  Despite this, many professionals experience periods of self-doubt, often referred to as imposter syndrome.  Research suggests that up to 70% of individuals may experience imposter-type thoughts at some point in their lives, and this can influence wellbeing, confidence, and professional performance.

Many professionals experience these thoughts quietly, even when they are highly competent and experienced. This course has been designed specifically for animal professionals and provides evidence-informed insights and practical strategies for recognising and managing these experiences in day-to-day professional practice.

This course provides approximately 10 hours of guided learning across five modules.

Course Highlights:

  • Relevant Research: Explore current research on imposter syndrome, including material relevant to animal professionals
  • Real Experiences: Learn from case studies featuring animal practitioners sharing lived professional experiences
  • Practical Tools: Apply practical strategies to recognise and manage imposter-type thinking patterns

Learning outcomes:
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand what imposter syndrome is and why it is important to be aware of it
  • Understand the common causes and triggers for imposter syndrome
  • Understand how imposter syndrome can impact mental health and job performance
  • Understand the different strategies for recognising and managing imposter syndrome
  • Understand and apply practical strategies to manage and reduce imposter-type thinking patterns

This course has been assessed and approved by the iPet Network and Kids Around Dogs (KAD) organisation and counts as CPD 10 points.
